In New York City, approximately 20 percent of food waste is generated by restaurants and caterers. Oftentimes, these businesses are unable to determine how much food is left over until late in the night, making donations difficult. Brooklyn Donates is working to transform the way we process food waste. Your donation will help us set up restaurant and community composting in Brooklyn.

Past community donations have made an incredible difference in the livelihoods of small business owners and their teams. We distributed $91,200 in grants in 2020. In 2021, we gave 5 grants to back-of-house restaurant employees that lost their jobs or who didn’t qualify for other forms of aid.
