Our mission
Brooklyn Donates began in 2020 to meet the most pressing issue confronting our community: the COVID-19 pandemic. We provided grants directly to small businesses and their workers to help them get through a tenuous time. Now, we are working on environmental justice and inequality issues impacting Brooklyn. Our mission is to make our neighborhood, our borough, our city, and our world more sustainable, and livable for everyone.
Sustainability: The intersection of environmental, social, and economic factors in shaping a more equitable and green future.
Environmental Justice: The understanding that issues of environmental health and quality are both intensely local and also global. It encompasses the belief that people should be involved in the decisions which affect them.
Our focus is on combating community deterioration and preventing the further gentrification of Brooklyn neighborhoods by investing in projects that facilitate local food by investing in projects that empower community-led decision-making. In the present precarious moment, our most urgent work is partnering with Floyd Bennett Field Neighbors to provide resources to migrant families.
