‘‘What does growing some of your own food have to do with repairing your relationship to food and eating? Everything.’’

Our Mission ⟶

Help Us Build a More Sustainable City.

In New York City, approximately 20 percent of food waste is generated by restaurants and caterers. Oftentimes, these businesses are unable to determine how much food is left over until late in the night, making donations difficult. Brooklyn Donates is working to transform the way we process food waste. We want to see the day when our city’s restaurants are no longer contributing to landfills, but they need your support to get there.

Please note: Although we put every effort into vetting Brooklyn Donates grant applicants, there may be information which we do not uncover. We provide grants in the best faith of helping small businesses and individuals, particularly those in the hardest hit communities, recover from the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. By providing a grant to a small business for its specific purpose, Brooklyn Donates in no way is providing an endorsement of the small business’s products or services, or endorsing the actions of their leadership.
